DVD X Studios CloneDVD.v4.2.5.0

Clone DVD by DVD X Studios is a great DVD copying product that has a good feature set and built-in CSS decryptor. It copies your original DVD movie, including the menus and extra footage, to a blank disc in 3 easy steps. Version 4 has introduced a mobile section that allows you to convert your DVDs to iPod and PSP.

Although Clone DVD is a great application, we found the copies it produced to be inconsistent and it does not allow you to copy episodic DVDs by individual episodes.

Feature Set:

Some of Clone DVD's key features is auto removal of all protections including CSS, RC, RCE, UOPs and Sony ARccOS. You can also make a DVD from VOB files on your hard drive, and the ability to copy all the menus, subtitles, bonus features, etc. to two discs, or just compress the main movie to a single disc.

We loved that Clone DVD has incorporated a section for mobile devices including iPod, PSP and cellular phones.

Ease of Use:

With Clone DVD's new design of version 4. The program is very easy to use and understand.

Ease of Installation:

This product is very easy to install and comes with a CSS decryptor.

Quality of Copy:

There is compression of the original DVD with their newest version, so you have the ability to copy your Dual Layer DVD to a smaller DVD-5 disc. We encountered some inconsistent results while testing this software. In one test the DVD copy was flawless, on another try the copy worked but the picture was pixelated and didn't respond well to fast movements.

Program Stability:

When we attempted to copy a movie using CloneDVD everything ran perfectly.

Summary:

Overall, Clone DVD is a good option for DVD Copying sofytware. This product has made some major improvments since their last version. You are now able to copy your DVD's to a Dual Layer Disc, copy to smaller DVD5 or just remove all your menus and extras so there is minimal compression. And the addition of mobile device conversion make this an invaluable piece of software; however, we feel that you can get all these features and a more consistent picture with the number three product, DVDFab.
